At the end of April we made a trip to Wiltshire to talk to Jeff and Sue Allen about their business Microbz Ltd. Jeff and Sue have a super range of healthy products, all based upon the power of microbes. It includes cosmetics, probiotics, cleaners and garden and drain products. What’s fascinating is their inspiring business philosophy and what they tell us about what they have learned from the microbes.

We hear that microbes are collaborative and they are regenerative. As Jeff says, “microbes are really good at closing the loop.” Sue talks about how clever the microbes are at communicating with each other and says “they’ve become our friends.”

As we’re taken on a tour of the brewing facility the love and respect that Sue and Jeff show for their products is evident. The ambiance is perfect even down to the soft music that plays continuously in the background. Microbes are living organisms, after all, so it’s reasonable to think that the vibration of music may enhance their environment. It made me think about the TLC that goes into good home cooking compared with many of the overly processed products that we buy, where human contact with them is almost non-existent and is at best, disengaged. Here I see products being made with the ultimate in care, pride and respect.

Jeff and Sue talk about their work as trainers with a model for living called Psychology of Vision and how they bring these principles into their business too. They talk about purpose, fulfillment, collaboration, partnership and how to be truly successful using these principles.

I ask them what three things they would recommend for somebody who wants to create a sustainable business that is successful and enduring and they talk about personal confidence, belief in what your doing and being in integrity. Regardless of what kind of work you do or what organisation you work with, these messages are pertinent as they relate to success in general. Do watch the video – you’ll be inspired!
